If a student is required to be absent from the University for a period of time for reasons such as family or personal bereavement, they will need to contact their School or the Research Support Team in the first instance to see if this absence can be authorised. Please note these can only be short periods and can never exceed 60 days.
The Home Office Compliance Team does not authorise absences as we cannot assess how long it would be permissible to miss engagement with a specific programme of study.
