I have received a letter from Disabled Students Allowance, what should I do with it?

I have received a letter what should I do with it?

Answer

'DSA 1' Letter (Eligibility for a Study Needs Assessment)

The 'DSA 1 letter is the first letter that you will recieve from the DSA Team following your application. This will state your eligibility for DSA, or may also ask for further information about your disability before your application can proceed.

If it is an approval for you to attend an Study Needs Assessment, you can contact the Needs Assessment Centre directly. The letter will have information about the Needs Assessment Centres near to you.

Our Disability Inclusion Service can help you to book your assessment. Please email a copy of the letter to disability@salford.ac.uk with your details and medical evidence. The Centre will then contact you directly to make an appointment.

DSA 2 (Entitlement/Approval Letter)

The next letter that DSA will send to you will detail approved recommendations, this is called the DSA 2 letter. You will need to follow the instructions in the letter to set up your support. Please also send a copy to our Disability Inclusion Team and contact the team if you have any questions when setting up your DSA.
