How does the online system handle payment options?


Answer

You will be asked how you intend to pay your tuition fees. The system then reacts to your chosen method as shown below:-

Tuition Fee Loan - If the University has already received confirmation of SLC funding the student will by-pass any financial conditions.

Where the University has not received this confirmation the student can only proceed if they choose to register as a self-paying student; this requires them to set up a payment plan to cover their tuition fees. Either the ‘pay by credit or debit card’ or ‘direct debit’ option will need to be selected. This instruction can be cancelled when confirmation of funding is provided from the Student Loan Company. If the Tuition fee loan application is unsuccessful the student becomes liable for the fees once they have registered on the course and if they are still registered two weeks after course commencement date.

 Payment in full or instalments by card - The student is directed to the Web Page Marketing website where they can pay in full or set up instalments for their tuition fee payment. Once done, they are returned to the online registration system and can continue with their registration. The Online Registration system may time out during this process. If it does the student will need to log back in to Online Registration, and then scroll through the screens using the Next key to continue where they left off. Changes are saved.

Payment via Direct Debit - The student is directed to the Web FeeDDer website where they can set up a direct debit for their tuition fee payment. Once done, they are returned to the online registration system and can continue with their registration.

Payment by sponsorship - The student is advised to take/send their sponsorship letter to the Income & Treasury Team, Pay point, AskUS, 2nd floor, University House, Salford, M5 4WT. Once the sponsor letter has been processed by Finance staff the student can go into the online registration system to register.

Payment by exemption - Exemptions should already have been authorised and processed in Banner prior to the student registering, however if this has not been done the student is asked which department or school is paying their fees. If it is a school, this request is emailed to the school email address to deal with, and cc’d to the registration office for information. If it is a non-academic department this request is emailed to the registration office only.

Cash - Cash payments will not be accepted in the registration hall and must be paid before registering at the Pay point, AskUS, 2nd floor, University House, Salford, M5 4WT. However please note that we never encourage students to carry around large sums of cash, payment by card is preferred.

Cheque - Cashiers facilities will be available in the registration hall during the registration period for cheque and card payments only. Cheques are made payable to ‘The University of Salford’

Career Development Loan - This is a low interest bank loan that some banks offer to pay students tuition fees. It is paid directly to the University in instalments. The student is advised to take their loan agreement showing the amount of loan entitlement to the Income Treasury Office, Pay point AskUs. If the loan does not cover the full amount of the fee the student will be required to set up instalments for the balance. Once this has been processed by the finance staff the student will be able to go onto the online registration system to register.
