What triggers the release of a student’s maintenance loan?
Answer
New Students – If you have an approved Maintenance Loan from Student Finance, upon registration the University will confirm your attendance automatically and this should trigger your loan.
Returning Students - If your loan application has been finalised and you have your payment schedule, then once you have completed registration you should receive payment on the scheduled date.
Please note if you applied for your loan with a manual form, you will need to sign and return the declaration that was part of your loan award to the SLC or you will not receive payment regardless of your registration status.
