When using any of our facilities you are expected to follow the Library Code. The Code is designed to create a good environment for everyone using the library.

  • Always carry your ID card and show it to staff on request
  • Do not damage any library property or resources
  • Cold food may be eaten in designated areas. Alcohol and hot food is not allowed
  • Do not use your belongings to 'reserve' a PC when you leave the PC suite - PCs are in high demand and other students need to use them
  • Tidy up after yourself and recycle your rubbish
  • Keep completely silent in Silent Study areas; other students are studying
  • When discussing your work, please use Collaborative Study areas, and ensure that noise levels do not disturb others
  • You may use your mobile phone in Collaborative Study areas, but you may not make or receive calls in Silent Study areas. In both areas keep your phone on silent
  • Any item you take from The Library must be correctly issued to your account and returned on time
  • No smoking, including e-cigarettes, in any part of The Library
  • Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by a responsible adult
  • Only use computers and laptops in accordance with the ICT acceptable use policy
  • You must treat staff and other library users with respect and courtesy at all times
