The library catalogue, Library Search, will tell you which books are physically available in the library and which are on loan. To see the full information about the loan status of a book, it’s best to sign in to Library Search before searching, using the option at the top right of the screen.
If a book is available, the record for the item will indicate 'Available at' followed by the location. This will show the name of the library site (e.g. Clifford Whitworth) and the shelf mark. If you click on this you will see a 'locate' button. Clicking this opens a floor map showing how to find the shelf you need.
If a book is out on loan, this tab will tell you when it is due back and will allow you to request it. Here’s an example:
