Q. What training is available for researchers?

Answer

The University offers an extensive range of development activities for researchers. The Salford Postgraduate & Staff Research Training (SPoRT) programme is designed to help staff and postgraduates develop the skills needed for effective research and transferable skills to enhance employability. It is open to all postgraduate researchers, academic and research staff.

Academic Support Librarians are also happy to provide one to one support and training, including the development of literature searching strategies for all staff and researchers.

The Academic Support Team also run regular training sessions for EndNote as part of the SPoRT programme. These are free, but places are limited so you must book. The following workbooks are also available:

The Library's Open Access team can also provide support on making your research accessible through Open Access and on depositing research outputs in the University's institutional repository (USIR).

A programme of IT skills training suitable for researchers is delivered throughout the year. These sessions are free, but places are limited so you must book in advance:

  • IT Skills Courses - a range of free courses in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Online Training - workbooks and interactive tutorials are also available for more self-paced learning.
