Q. What do I do if I can't find what I want in the Library?

Answer

The Library may not stock everything you require throughout your course. If this happens you can request items for Library stock - each school has a Library Champion with a budget to buy the books you want - find the Champion for your school here. You can also request items your self using the form here.

We can also obtain or borrow material from other libraries or the British Library. Details are available at: http://www.salford.ac.uk/library/use/document-delivery

If you want to search beyond our collection at Salford you have access to a number of local and national libraries:

  • NoWAL (North West Academic Libraries) – you can access all NoWAL members’ University library catalogues - follow the links to the 14 member institutions here.
  • British Library Catalogue – lists over 13 million items in the British Library collection - search the catalogue here.
  • COPAC – provides access to the online catalogues of some of the largest university research libraries in the UK and Ireland. Search COPAC here.
  • SCONAL Access scheme - which allows students from one member institution to use the library of another of the 175 member institutions. Further information, and a list of the institutions involved, is available here.
